SPS Adoption of Shipman & Goodwin, LLC Model Policy Library
The following is the process by which Stafford Public Schools is adopting the Shipman & Goodwin’s Model Policy Library:
- On January 13, 2026, at the Board of Education Policy Meeting (minutes can be found here), the Superintendent reported that policies in the 1000s-3000s series are up-to-date, but the 4000s-9000s series updates were behind. He explained a multi-step process to update policies using Shipman & Goodwin model policies, using them as a baseline and reviewing a crosswalk to identify which policies to keep or modify. He explained that this process would involve administrative team input and board approval and we would target to complete this process prior to Fall 2026.
- On March 10, 2026, at the Board of Education Policy Meeting (minutes can be found here), the Superintendent shared that the Administrative team was in the process of providing feedback on the policy crosswalk with updated website links. He said that the Administrative team will complete their review of policies and then bring their recommendations to the full Board of Education.
- On April 21, 2026, at the Board of Education Regular Meeting (minutes can be found here), the Board of Education voted to approve the update to Board Policy 9311 Formulation, Adoption, Amendment or Deletion of Policies, and Board Policy 9314 Suspension of Policies, Bylaws, or Regulations, and then approved the adoption of the Shipman & Goodwin Model Policy manual and the repeal and archive to procedural regulation any existing policies that are no longer required or supported by current law.
- As of May, 2026, formatting of Shipman & Goodwin policies are in progress, with time-sensitive changes being added in the ‘Spring 2026 Legislative-Mandated and BOE-Driven Updates’ tab on this page.
